Arduino Day 2015 in Turin
One of my favorite’s lessons is «Basics of technical modeling» that goes in our laboratory «Experimentarium 1502», where each pupil has possibilities to realize any project. For example, my last project is the «Obstacle Detecting Tactile Device» for blind people. I have successfully performed it on the conference «Potensial» this year and have achieved the third place in section «Robototechnique».
It is always interesting to meet like-minded persons and people with which you have the same interests. Such people are everywhere, and of course, it is interesting to me to watch, how such events go in other countries. Preparing for the trip to Italy, I, just in case, checked the list of actions that were going to take a place that week. By a fluke, I found out that there is an Arduino Day 2015 in Turin on the 28th of March at Coworking Toolbox Torino. Of course, there was a website devoted to this event. Through it I connected to the organizers, in short explained, who I am, our schools Fab Lab and the main ideas of my project. I offered me like a volunteer. It was great that Fabrizio Garda (Fab Lab Torino), the organizer of the action, responded with true enthusiasm, proposed me to present my project, checked if I need any additional plugs and etc. Although that receiving of blanks has already closed, the organizers met half-way.
To speak public the whole day in front of different people in English was my first attempt, so, I prepared myself very hard. But then this day has come. And that was one of the greatest day in my life.
There was an Arduino Day on 28 March, and I took part as a volunteer with my project "Tactical Obstacle Detecting Device" (TODD). This action went off in Fab Lab Torino in Italy. My mission was to stay with my project at the big yellow table and to present it to guests. There were also deployed some other projects near, indeed they were italian. There were two of them: 1) Homemade beermaker based on Arduino and 2) Complex of testing of different sensors, lamps and other electricity stuff. People that came in the hall became dazzled by all that LEDs first of all, then they extended their knowledges about beermaking in home conditions and in the end they tried on strange head-dress. Person heard for what and for whom this device was made before testing my device. Then people put it on, frizzed listening to new feelings and then started to wave his hands over head to be sure if it worked. After that, people already walked away with a smile on their faces and new ideas. As it says "if you want to succeed - wear a hat". Volunteers could go and eat something and besides to talk to each other and to swap their experience and ideas in breaks. In such way, I found out about some projects, that were not shown for demonstration (for example an upgraded Arduino board, that can send all data from sensors far from user). There also was a hangout connection between Arduino Werkstad in Sweden, Arduino Bangalore in India and Arduino Budapest with a video contribute made by Massimo Banzi and Arduino Co-founders.
Here is a short video report about event.
This Arduino Day was very well organized. All volunteers were speaking enthusiastically about their projects and all participants were listening to them with interest. It was a pleasure for me to communicate to very different guests - not only serious men but beautiful girls also. All volunteers were supplied by food, clothes and equipment for presenting. I got great feelings and a big fund of new experience and ideas, and most of all - a lot of new contacts with interesting people. So, the idea about control of ot water in the shower of hot water was very interesting. Thank you, Fab Lab Torino for this cool Arduino Day. And heartfelt gratitude for Fabrizio and Cristina for this party.
